KA-BAR

This is a great all purpose knife..Used it for years in the military as a utility knife and back-up weapon...It has a heft and feel to it that I have not felt in many other folders...I have put this knife through many trials and tribulations, and it has never let me down....pick one up and you will see what I mean by the heft of it....the clip is also set up so that you can put it on either side or take it off all together..Above all else, the price of this knife is awesome, compared to the total value.....If you are looking for a knife that is great in any situation and has some weight to it in your hand, then this is definitely the knife for you..

Just received my Ka-bar Mule yesterday, was excited all week and couldn't wait to get it! Though I had many doubts on quality and size it turned out to be more than my expectations! The pictures do not do this knife any justice. I expected to get a small and mediocre quality knife but it turned out to be a good size and seems very durable. I am a truck driver and we depend on knives for all sorts of tasks and I believe I can accomplish anything I need to with this knife! I can't wait to take it on the road! Great knife, I made the right choice! I was looking for a durable and practical affordable folding knife, and after going through pretty much all the big name knife makers I decided upon the Mule largely because of the AUS8 blade, Zytel handle, ideal length (just below the legal limit in CA), and the effective handle ergonomics. Indeed it did not disappoint! I have not put it through hell and high water yet, but it is my EDC and has performed flawlessly. The blade is razor sharp, so much that you can actually shave with it; the knife feels very secure in your hand and won't slip at all even under high G swings; the gimping is effective and does its job; thumb stud is positioned so that you can flick the knife open in one go; blade is thick but not excessive; it may be heavy but looking at it I get the impression the weight is being put to good use; the lockback mechanism is based off a massive chunk of steel and looks like it will never fail. Now, there are some negatives however: the paint on the blade and clip chips off easily; dirt can get into the pivoting mechanism/lock rather effortlessly and causes a nasty grinding feel (but I got it VERY dirt by the time it did that); the rubber inserts don't do as much as you would think they'd do (its a hard rubber); and the thumb studs appear to be brass....this may cause galvanic corrosion in time between it and the blade, though I'm not entirely sure. Overall, between CS, Bench, Spy and the other guys, I think this is the best pick in the price range for a no-nonsense work folder.
